Job Title : REEF Supplementary Education Before Care Team Lead (Before School)

Reports to : Director of REEF (Before and Aftercare)

Washington Yu Ying’s REEF program is in search of proactive, creative and like-minded people to fill our Aftercare Team Lead position.

Team Leaders aka Super Teachers (get your cape) will work with children daily, helping them learn and grow toward young adulthood.

Our Super Teachers will interact with their teams helping strengthen the teaching ability of their colleagues. Teamwork makes the dream work! Super Teachers will also participate in a range of operational, supervisory, and administrative facets of REEF.

Super Teachers may take on additional school operation projects as requested, and / or at your request, to include collaborating with the Director of REEF and REEF Operational Support Leader.

Being a morning person and warmly welcoming our earliest students to school! This position is for 6 : 30 am to 8 : 30 am.

Creating materials you need if they’re not readily available or don’t already exist!

Managing large groups with stationary, and sometimes active, activities (coloring, legos, tabletop games)!

Keeping things simple and organized!

Managing student challenges during before care. Promptly follow up with parents via email, telephone, and in person. Ensuring that positive recognition occurs.

Exhibits effective management techniques when working with Support Staff and other Leads (being proactive, motivating and supportive).

Helping serve student breakfast; collaborating with meal ops to ensure student breakfast administration is compliant with any federal, state, and local regulations.

Leading a team : ensuring that everyone knows what their role is in the morning.

Make certain that orders are submitted, accurately.

Essential Responsibilities :

Monitor and assist in the coordination of before and / or aftercare (REEF) programs for assigned grade levels.

Manage the day-to-day program administration of REEF before care activities. Collaborate with the Director of REEF and appropriate staff to ensure before care activities are age appropriate and corresponding with the school’s mission and curriculum.

Supervise and ensure students’ safety during before care activities on campus.

Ensure that the correct students are participating in REEF before care each day.

Supervise transition periods between beforecare and arrival.

Help manage student behavior issues at REEF programs. Promptly follow up with parents via email, telephone, and in person.

Ensure that school-wide student discipline policy is used with all students.

Serve as the first line of communication and point-of-contact with parents for any student related issues.

Serve student breakfast; recording breakfast counts; collaborating with business staff to ensure student breakfast administration is compliant with any federal, state, and local regulations.

Ensure that all areas used during REEF programs are cleaned up and put away program snacks on a daily basis.

Contribute to the development of REEF programs and staff.

Ensure that your staff have proper materials for their activities each day.

Assist the Director of REEF in developing new and special classes and writing new class guidelines and descriptions.

Work with school administration to develop and implement processes and procedures to maintain the quality, security, and safety of REEF programs.

Contribute to the development and documentation of REEF policies / procedures and REEF staff and family handbooks.

Assist with the development of REEF student discipline policy and protocol.

Assist with other REEF operation efforts as needed.

Assist with other school operation efforts as requested.

Contribute to a variety of projects and tasks associated with the general operation of a public charter school and its extracurricular programs, as may be requested from time to time by appropriate personnel.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of college coursework and experience.

Experience and knowledge with before-and-aftercare program administration is strongly preferred.

Appreciation, experience, and understanding of Chinese culture. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is preferred.

Must have basic technology skills, e.g. Microsoft Office. Experience with Mac preferred.

Must be a self-starter with sound time management skills, ability to work with little supervision, problem-solving and crisis management skills.

Excellent verbal and writing communication skills and strong motivational skills.

Warm and friendly personality; ability to relate well to children and staff.

Schedule :

The REEF Supplementary Education Team Lead is expected to work a maximum of 10 hours per week. Daily schedules of work may vary, depending on school needs.

Terms of Employment : 10 Months

Salary : $20-$25 per hour
