- Develop and maintain relationships with transportation companies and shipping point contacts to streamline the movement of goods in the most cost-effective manner
- Manual Order Entry, Shipment scheduling and proactive communication to the delivery points (inbound and outbound loads)
- Freight rate administration and data entry
- Answering a high-volume phone queue to be the front line for incoming inquiries for potential new partners
- Support for LTL and parcel shipments as needed
- Carrier scorecard review and assessment of various key performance indicators for all vendor partners
- Maintain documentation, change control records and any agreements pertaining to business system, customer support and software
- Transaction analysis and problem resolution. Includes reviewing reports as well as phone and email communication to commercial, shipping and vendor partners
- Willingness to travel to US based locations on an as-needed basis to support business needs and project deadlines
- Work on projects and performs other duties as assigned Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications :
- Associate degree with a concentration in Business or Supply Chain or 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills includingMicrosoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to effectively communicate to various audience groups both inside and outside of the company Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in a Business or Communications field with a concentration in Business or Supply Chain
- One year experience in a role that deals with interstate truck movement of freight in support of a multi-site ship point operation
- Two years in a logistics, dispatch or shipping department role, preferably within the Nucor family of companies
- Prior experience in the steel manufacturing or scrap metal industry
- Prior experience with web-based Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
