Title : Component Shop Technician

Status : Full Time

Department : JMT Organization

Summary :

The Component Shop Technician is directly responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and service of aircraft components, including but not limited to landing gear, flight controls, sheet metal structures, NDT, and small part painting, as assigned. This position will perform maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly, and adjustments of various aircraft systems and structures in compliance with technical specifications, engineering instructions and FAA regulations, under the direction of the Component Shop / Engineering Manager.

The ideal candidate will have a much-disciplined planning and time management approach. Jet Midwest Technik is a premier provider of commercial aircraft heavy maintenance, modification, and paint services to the aviation industry. This position is located at the Kansas City International Airport Area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities included, but not limited to :

• Inspect, repair, and overhaul aircraft components and systems as assigned in compliance with specifications and FAA regulations
• Troubleshoot system and component malfunctions and perform necessary maintenance work or re-work using various tools and diagnostic devices
• Remove and replace defective components
• Sheet metal inspection and repairs
• Composite / paint inspection and repairs
• Maintain all pertinent documentation – logbooks, 8130’s, and historical data as required
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience :

Airframe & Powerplant (A&P Certificate)

Physical Demands & Work Environment :

While performing the responsibilities of the Component Shop Technician, the employee will be on their feet, standing, reaching with hands and arms and walking the majority of their workday. 50% of their job duties will require the ability to : climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The noise level is usually moderate to high, as consistent with a shop environment. You will regularly lift, carry, and use tools and other equipment weighing up to 10 pounds for extended periods of time, and will frequently perform tasks requiring you to lift and / or manipulate parts, supplies, weighing up to 50 pounds. As such, safe lifting techniques should be used, and a request for assistance should be made to a co-workers or a supervisor.
