Clinical Lab Assistant - Core Laboratory Day Shift - 7am 3 : 30pm, Tuesday -Saturday (Sunday and Monday off), rotating holidays.
About the Role : The Clinical Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision, reporting to a Laboratory Supervisor or Manager.
Responsibilities include receiving, accessioning, centrifuging, and decanting patient specimens, as well as communicating with clinicians.
Key Responsibilities : - Visitor Interaction : Greets and assists visitors at the Front Window. - Sample Management : - Reception : Sorts, prioritizes, and receives patient specimens.
- Accessioning : Enters patient information accurately into the computer and labels specimens. - Processing : Operates automated sample processing instrumentation and transfers samples.
- Communication : Responds to telephone inquiries and processes add-on requests. - Documentation : Faxes reports, sorts, and files requisitions, and follows department protocols.
- Safety and Cleanliness : Maintains a safe and clean working environment. Qualifications : - Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience : Previous laboratory, healthcare, or customer service experience preferred. - Skills : - Interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction.
- Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress. - Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and visual accuracy. - Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Windows.
- English language proficiency for communication. Working Conditions : - Clinical laboratory environment handling potentially biohazardous body fluid samples.
- Hectic or stressful work environment at times. - Prolonged periods of sitting or standing, with occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
