About The Position
Dotdash Meredith is seeking an Associate Director, Social Media to join our Home team, working on Real Simple & The Spruce.
The Associate Director, Social Media will partner with the Editorial & Business leads of the brands, as well as existing Social Media Team members, to implement and evolve Real Simple and The Spruce's social media strategy driving brand awareness, increasing traffic, growing our audience, and creating an engaged community.
You are a digitally-savvy content enthusiast with a passion for all things home, including decor, DIY, food, gardening, cleaning & organizing, and shopping for the best products to get it all done.
The Associate Director, Social Media will drive a cohesive social strategy of creating & promoting our best content on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, and Twitter accounts.
You have a background in creating and producing social content (both social videos and static graphics), and you have experience with high-volume daily publishing to social channels.
The right candidate will have a deep understanding of or passion for the Real Simple and The Spruce brands.
Hybrid 3x a week- New York
In-office Expectations This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.
About The Position’s Contributions :

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
Partner with editorial teams to plan / design, launch, and manage creative social promotions that support on-site content, community engagement, and larger brand initiatives
Track, analyze, and report data and insights on our growth and engagement; interpret social analytics and report to senior management on the so what? of all findings.
Write compelling, social-friendly copy that reflects our brand voice and values; and train the editorial team to write social headlines that will drive clicks and engagement across platforms.
Audit existing social presence & competitive landscape, and evaluate trends to inform and build a targeted strategy for growth.
Work closely with DDM social strategy team to stay informed of trends and policies that are ever-changing.
Manage social media contractors who help produce and schedule content as needed.
The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements
Education :
Undergraduate degree (a major plus if degree is in social media or communications; and / or equivalent experience.
Experience :
- 8+ years of demonstrated experience working as a social media professional or community manager for a brand or publication (a strong personal social presence is a plus, but not required)
- 2+ years of management experience
- Have driven the strategy for a brand’s (or multiple brands’) cohesive social presence across Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, Twitter, or other social media accounts
- Experience with shopping content (like product roundups, favorite product videos, etc.) and platforms (e.g., LikeShop, ManyChat) a plus
- Journalism / editorial background strongly preferred
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities :
- Proactive, creative, flexible team player with a good sense of humor and entrepreneurial spirit, able to roll with the punches and take ownership of responsibilities in a fluid and fast-moving environment
- Process- and detail-oriented, and deadline-focused
- Must have exceptional communication skills and ability to confidently work with / and communicate to multiple stakeholders
- Expert-level proficiency with writing, editing, and curation of content for brands on social networks such as TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and other emerging social platforms
- Experience with social media schedulers and analytics tools preferred (ex. Dash Hudson, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, True Anthem, etc.)
- Strong graphic design and video editing skills, preferably familiar with Canva and Adobe

Pay Range
Salary : New York : $85,000.00 - $100,000.00
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future.
Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance.
The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
