Senior Acquisition Engineer
Clearance Required : TS / SCI
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a Senior Acquisition Engineer to support SAF / AQR (The Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics). The ideal candidate will have relevant acquisition systems engineering experience in a System Program Office and / or HAF.
Position Overview :
The Senior Acquisition Engineer will provide critical engineering support for the maturation of technologies and programs within the AQR portfolio . Responsibilities include conducting engineering assessments, analyzing weapon systems, and providing recommendations to inform Air Force acquisition decisions. A strong background in systems engineering, program management, and the DoD PPBE process and POM is required.
Key Responsibilities :
Technical Analysis and Engineering Assessments :
- Study, analyze, and recommend on requirements, acquisition strategies, program documentation, and execution.
- Assess programs approaching milestone decisions and evaluate contractor issues.
- Perform technical studies on weapon systems, integration, and capabilities.
- Analyze weapon system architecture to identify issues and suggest solutions.
- Evaluate design alternatives to meet capabilities.
Research and Program Support :
Support preparation of programmatic documentation and responses to inquiries.Identify operational deficiencies, research solutions, and provide recommendations.Conduct trade-off studies on weapon systems, technology, and costs.Review technical and management documents and specifications.Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Policy :
Provide expertise on MBSE implementation and policy compliance.Assess policy requirements and procedures.Evaluate system end-of-life support strategies.Technology Transition and S&T Integration :
Assess transition activities, including engineering, experimentation, and prototyping.Identify technology gaps and align with S&T efforts.Advise on leveraging S&T to enhance capabilities.Communication and Collaboration :
Communicate technical ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders.Collaborate across teams to align efforts.Handle classified information discreetly.Administrative and IT Proficiency :
Proficient in office IT tools and communication software.Adapt quickly to DAF software packages.Performance Metrics :
Timely delivery of assessments.High-quality, data-driven recommendations.Stakeholder satisfaction.Compliance with policies and security protocols.Effective communication skills.Qualifications : Education :
Master's degree in a relevant engineering field, or equivalent experience (12 years work experience or Bachelor's +8 years).Experience :
10+ years in systems engineering within SPO or HAF.10+ years in the Air Force or DoD PPBE process.Expertise in weapon systems analysis, technical assessments, and MBSE.Desired Skills :
Familiarity with MBSE tools (e.g., DOORs, CAMEO).Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work in high-stakes environments collaboratively.About Nationwide IT Services :
