NoSummaryIndependently plans and provides excellent professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and protocol in preparing patients for surgical procedures.
The Care Coordinator screens and collects patient data and prepares them for surgery and discharge. Collaborates with various healthcare professionals (Anesthesia team, Case Management, physicians, etc.
in determining surgical pathway for patient. The scope of responsibility of the Surgical Care Coordinator includes the ability to anticipate, plan for, and respond to the needs of the patient, surgeon, and other team members.
The Surgical Care Coordinator is held accountable for delivering care in accordance to hospital and departmental policies and protocols, American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Clinical Practice, Indiana Nurse Practice Act, and ANA Code of Ethics.
The authority for the practice of nursing is based on a social contract that acknowledges professional rights and responsibilities.
Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, patient families, coworkers, and physicians.EducationRequires a Diploma in Nursing or an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN);
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Licensure / CertificationValid Indiana Registered Nurse license required.
Must have current CPR certification. Other professional certifications encouraged.ExperienceMinimum of 2 years Orthopedic or Pre-Op experience.
Additional healthcare experience preferred depending on area of specialty.Other QualificationsMust have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to provide assistance to a mobility challenged patient.
