Job Description
The Senior Accountant serves as part of the Administration team for the Hispanic Health Council. Under limited supervision, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing financial statements like balance sheets, invoices, ledgers, and AP / AR.
Ensures accurate and timely submission for department operations, compiling financial reports based on financial statements and implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting.
Assists the Administration with important financial decisions, preparing business reports, financial forecasts where and as needed.
Guides financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape. Achieves budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action.
Supervises assigned staff under finance department in preparation of financial reports and budgets. Monitors the organization’s financial reports and determines ways to reduce costs.
In support of the CFO, monitors the organization’s financial health, analyzing financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues, etc.
Helps develop and support short and long-term operational strategies. Performs related work as required.
The hours of work are 28 per week. Required to travel to site locations (as needed).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, and financial strategies and practices
- Knowledge of General Accounting accruals, journal entries, and audit preparations
- Knowledge of accounting, IT, legal, and finance dynamics
- Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite : Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to work independently with a people of diverse cultures, ages, and economic backgrounds
- Ability to develop plans, policies and procedures surrounding concentrations
- Ability to make routine decisions and determine appropriate action(s)
- Ability to work flexible work hours including pre-scheduled nights and weekends
- Experience in negotiations, analyzing data, and leadership management
- Strong communication, networking, and organizational skills
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field and five (5) years of administrative experience in financial management.
Certified Public Accountant, Certified General Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or Certified Accountant designation preferred.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Advanced degree in marketing or business
- Deep understanding of changing market
- Valid Driver’s License
- Bilingual Spanish
