At Avanzar, we produce automotive interiors for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Inc.’s plant in San Antonio, where Tundra and Tacoma pickup trucks are manufactured.
We also serve the Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California in Mexico, which builds Tacoma pickup trucks.

Summary :
- The Engineering Manager will support the plant and customer through effective management of new programs, plant projects and implementation of improvement and cost reduction suggestions.
- The Engineering Manager will develop assembly, process, fixturing and equipment to ensure high quality and cost-effective production.
- Assure design changes are implemented in a timely cost-effective manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide leadership to Engineering and Maintenance team for automotive seat and overhead system manufacturing.
- Responsible for providing direct interface to customers, suppliers and product engineering organization, especially focused on Seat Assembly and Overhead system assembly.
- Work closely with lean manufacturing teams to update key process indicators such as : Quick Tool Change, Tool performance, OEE, Jobs per hour, Lean Manufacturing Implementation, and Line balance charts.
- Support plant safety programs by ensuring that engineering support is involved with the implementation into the manufacturing processes.
- Manage the quoting and implementation of product design changes.
- Support identification, implementation and verification of continuous improvement activities.
- Establish / evaluate internal integration plans by completing make vs. buy plans and present proposals.
- Develop appropriate production technologies and methods according to business needs.
- Plan resources and budget to achieve profit plan goals for fiscal year.
- Support the protection of the environment, personal safety, prevention of pollution and the continual improvement of the Environmental Management System.
- Provide leadership to I.T. in preventing accidents and ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA / TCEQ standards, including continuously monitoring the workplace for hazardous environmental, health, and safety conditions.
- Have the authority to stop and prevent unsafe actions; stop the use of unsafe equipment and tools; stop work and / or have employees leave a work area.
- Ensure that all department related incident reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Education and Experience :
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or a related field (i.e. mechanical, industrial, manufacturing).
- Preferably five years automotive experience.
- Experience with launches.
- Continuous Improvement experience.
Language Skills :
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, and procedure manuals (i.e. hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic schematics).
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
