Summary

The Warehouse Associate position is responsible for the daily transportation support of the company including freight charges, rating shipments, bills of lading and calling carriers.

The position has a high degree of interaction with associates in purchasing, customer service, warehouse and marketing departments as well as sales reps and customers.

This role reports to the Bedford Park Warehouse Manager.

Responsibilities

• Prepares documentation, maintains records, and coordinates logistics for product shipment.
• Quote, book and manage freight loads from start to finish.
• Determines method of shipment and prepares bills, invoices, and other shipping documents.
• Conducts end of day shipping office activities.
• Schedule inbound freight through freight forwarding companies.
• Assigns carriers and / or books loads into customer portals while ensuring accurate information is available for dispatch and track loads.
• Contacts transport companies and suppliers in order to expedite, track or return merchandise.
• Effectively lead cross-functional root cause and corrective action to resolve customer-related shipping issues.
• Work within customer portals; such as Amazon, Grainger, etc.
• Process orders through UPS and Fed-Ex on-line systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School or GED required.
• 2 years shipping experience is required; solid understanding of shipping process including Freight Regulations.
• Experience with NAFTA and International documentation.
• Previous experience dealing with freight charges or shipping of products is preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, team player and ability to multi-task is a must.
