THE ROLE

We are looking for a business minded Senior Corporate Counsel with a positive attitude and a collaborative spirit to join our Legal team.

The ideal candidate is a relationship builder, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs and excited to work in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment.

We are looking for an attorney who has experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and strong knowledge of data privacy, and can work closely with cross-functional teams and business process owners to support growth.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will manage a team of attorneys and collaborate with other members of the global Legal team, including regulatory affairs.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including but not limited to vendor and service agreements (such as SaaS and AI technology) DPAs, supply chain agreements (such as manufacturing, procurement and distribution), clinical trial agreements and marketing and advertising contracts.
• Provide in-house legal advice on data privacy laws and requirements, working seamlessly and collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the organization in the US, EU and China.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams and business process owners, including AG1’s Director, InfoSec and Data Protection, to develop, implement, and monitor data privacy policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations related to ecommerce and subscription services, such as auto-renewal laws, CAN-SPAM and TCPA.
• Manage and lead a team of lawyers responsible for contracts and data privacy.
• Optimize our contract lifecycle management (CLM) system and leverage AI technologies to enhance efficiency within the legal department.
• Provide education and training on relevant legal issues and develop processes and best practices to support business needs.
• Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency of legal and business activities.
• Collaborate regularly with cross-functional and management teams to gain internal insights, identify and evaluate risk, support transactions, and provide clear, business-oriented legal advice.
• Handle a variety of other demands and projects related to our operations that arise in a rapidly growing startup.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Minimum of 8+ years of meaningful relevant experience in a law firm and in-house legal department, preferred experience in a consumer facing company
• J.D. from ABA accredited program.
• Active bar membership in any state.
• Data Privacy Experience is required.
• Significant experience negotiating, drafting, and solving issues for various types of commercial contracts, including those relating to technology, supply chain agreements, services agreements, vendor agreements, licensing agreements, and distribution agreements.
• Knowledge of global and domestic privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR and CCPA and experience implementing global privacy and data security compliance programs, policies and processes to meet legal requirements.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of being a relationship builder and the ability to build trust and rapport across all levels of the organization.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and hyper-growth environment with a consistent can-do attitude.
• Experience in advising on high-stakes business decisions where legal and business risks must be balanced.
• Strong attention to detail and a proven ability to manage multiple work streams at once.

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is $220,000.

00 - $245,000.00 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role.

Base salary is one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
