Job Description

How You Will Make An Impact

The Senior Manager of Product Design is responsible for heading up product design and UX research to build a best-in-class product experience across all platforms.

In this role, you will partner with product, marketing, data science, research and engineering to develop our product design and UX strategy and help shape the way in which we accomplish our company mission of inspiring a new generation of consumers to think secondhand-first through our customer experience.

In addition to cultivating a high performing team of product designers and UX researchers, cross-functional collaboration and a focus on improving the people, processes, and alignment on your team and beyond will be key in this role.

We ultimately want you to come away at the end of each week proud of building a team that is relentlessly focused on delighting our customers while transforming the industry-wide experience for shopping used.

In This Role You’ll Get To :

  • Provide overall direction for Product design; empowering our product designers to rapidly ideate and validate designs through sketches, prototypes, and testing.
  • Champion product design and UX research best practices across the organization; establish, advocate for, and direct a user-centric, research-fueled approach that produces innovative design solutions.
  • Leverage data and customer research to create insight-informed design and product recommendations.
  • Apply and further develop your experience in developing new approaches to design based on industry best practices, and a restless curiosity for better’.
  • Guide your teams through rapidly evolving, complex demands, including multiple projects with dependencies on other internal teams.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise in digital trends and competitor innovations and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of the customer experience.
  • Work with others across the brand and marketing team and the wider company, to ensure a creative culture is cultivated and propagated.
  • Ultimately, be a thoughtful and effective leader that guides projects and collaborates with teams across the organization to deliver engaging content that meets the expectations of stakeholders and customers.

What We’re Looking For :

  • 2+ years experience managing a product design team. Experience managing UX researchers a plus.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates : outstanding leadership in design, a principled, user-centric design approach, and an insights-based design process.
  • Excellent visual and interaction design skills that can create elegant solutions for complex problems at scale.
  • An approach that integrates customer research and both quantitative and qualitative data to fuel an iterative design process.
  • Solid knowledge of user research techniques and usability testing methodologies.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail.
  • Experience collaborating and building alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience launching products in a fast-paced product organization where your solutions led to quantifiable improvements.

At thredUP, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $220,000 and $260,000, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Many thredUP employees also have the opportunity to own shares of thredUP stock. thredUP employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, as well as a discount when purchasing thredUP stock if voluntarily participating in thredUP’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
