TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a skilled Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Technician II, to join our team in Tallahassee, FL.
Job Summary : The ITS Technician II performs on-site, repair and / or installation of telecommunications equipment. This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation.
The ideal candidate will reside within a 50-mile radius of Tallahassee, FL in order to respond to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within a 2-hour time frame.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment to include Land Mobile Radio network communications equipment, Microwave radio network equipment, MPLS routing and switching equipment, and tower lighting systems.
- Complete reports, logs and performs communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and practices.
- Respond to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within a 2-hour time frame.
- Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and system issues.
- Report technical status of system with accuracy and completeness.
- Restore equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
- Maintenance of spare equipment and parts following established guidelines and procedure.
- Isolate faults to board, module, or component level.
- Field test of units and / or components.
- Electronic filing of work orders
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience :
- Strong background in Electronics and RF communications.
- Good troubleshooting skills RF issues.
- Solid TCP / IP and MPLS networking skills
- Must be a self-starter
- Ability to install, repair and maintain RF network communications equipment.
- Ability to isolate faults to board, module, and component level.
- Ability to communicate effectively to perform work assignments.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record; driving is required for the position.
- Be able to complete and pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check.
- Must successfully complete required background / drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process;
additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen.
Desired Skills and Experience :
- In depth knowledge of electronics and RF theory
- Ability to safely work in aerial lifts including bucket trucks of various heights (40ft up to 80ft)
Education and Qualification :
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- AS degree in electronics / IT / telecommunications or equivalent military experience preferred
