The Sr. RCP / RRT is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with recognized leadership abilities and sound clinical skills who will actively assist Respiratory Care Practitioners to successfully complete shift assignments and daily activities.
Sr. RCP / RRT operates under the guidance of the Mission and values of Keck Hospital of USC, is responsible and accountable for the care and services provided to our patients.
Sr.RCP / RRT will assist department leadership with execution of operational and clinical goals. Sr.RCP / RRT provides therapy evaluation, and treatment as ordered by the referring Physician.
Sr RCP / RRT supports respiratory staff by providing training and orientation, reviewing employees' work against performance / quality standards and advising Clinical Coordinator and Manager of day-to-day work unit activities.
Essential Duties :
- Provides assistance to Respiratory Care staff and shift operations. Organizes his / her work activities to ensure efficiency, fulfill job priorities (which includes patient acuity and demand) and make optimum use of work hours.
- Assures availability and working condition of equipment including ventilators, bronchoscopes, nitric oxide delivery system, and equipment, both hospital-owned and rental, prior to patient care use.
- Provides clinical leadership within the department and within the multidisciplinary care team as necessary.
- Promotes a professional atmosphere through courteous communication
- Assists in providing orientation and training to staff.
- Provides patient Care through administration of all aspects of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care.
- Establishes open communication with staff, the multidisciplinary care team, the Department Manager and Medical Directors.
- Assures that appropriate procedures are initiated by the appropriate staff.
- Maintains the highest standards of conduct in customer service, appearance and attitude.
- Communicates effectively with the Clinical Coordinator and Department Manager .
- Establishes and maintains performance improvement and quality control activities which support the department and the hospital.
- Coordinates and integrates department services on intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and hospital wide levels.
- Completes department labor and shift assessment documentation.
- Ensures legal and ethical practice by practicing within regulatory requirements and demonstrating knowledge of the Respiratory Care Practice Act, Title 22, JCAHO, CAP, DHHS, National Patient Safety Goals and other Regulatory requirements as indicated.
- Assures staff completes required billing and medical record documentation.
- Assist Clinical Coordinator as needed with other duties.
- Assures that flow of communication is maintained and communicated to the Clinical Coordinator.
- Assures the department is clean and maintained throughout the shift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications :
- Req High school or equivalent
- Req Specialized / technical training Graduate from an accredited school for Respiratory Therapy Program.
- Req 2 years Experience providing all aspects of respiratory care in an acute care hospital.
- Req Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word as well as Internet access and utilization.
- Req Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
- Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.
- Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Pref Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS)
- Pref Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
Required Licenses / Certifications :
- Req Registered Respiratory Therapist - RRT (NBRC)
- Req Respiratory Care Practitioner - RCP (CA DCA)
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.

The hourly rate range for this position is $39.00 - $66.45.
