RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST
2-YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT
We have an exciting new opening for a Research & Development Scientist to join our small, dynamic team of R&D specialists.
Candidates must be capable of evaluating, recommending, and applying state-of-the-art technology in vaccine research and development.

What are the Specific Responsibilities?
Provide technical lab-based expertise in the design, execution, validation, and implementation of biological process and analytical development for veterinary vaccines.
Technology transfer to contract development and manufacturing organizations.
Maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the relevant scientific and technical literature as well as an awareness of new technologies available.
What are the Skills & Experience Required?
- BS or MS in a life science, (virology, bacteriology, or immunology), related engineering, or equivalent biological experience.
- Demonstrated competency in process and analytical methods development, process / cleaning validation, cell culture, and media optimization.
- Strong technical / analytical skills.
- A high degree of personal motivation.
- Strong oral and written communication, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to interact across divisional boundaries.
- Strong commitment to product quality and safety of co-workers.
- Working knowledge of vaccine production methods and experimental design and experience in GLP or GMP is also desirable.
Expertise in the following areas is sought :
- Aseptic technique
- Experience in basic microbial techniques (e.g., Virus titration, Serum Neutralization, Bacterial growth curves, ELISA, PCR and SDS-PAGE)
- Cell culture experience
- Fermentation
- Lyophilization
- Downstream processing (Centrifugation, filtration, diafiltration, formulation and chromatography)
- Pilot scale production of microorganisms
- Good documentation practices
- Collaborator
- Cross-functional expert on project teams
- Experimental design and planning
