Job Description
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair work on the equipment and machinery used in a food manufacturing company.
The Maintenance Worker must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems, as well as perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure that the equipment is running smoothly and efficiently.
This position is more like an entry level maintenance position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the upkeep and repair of production machinery.
o Inspect production machinery for any signs of malfunction or wear and tear.
o Perform preventive maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to keep them running smoothly.
Clean and lubricate machinery, equipment, and parts.
Conduct safety checks on all machinery and equipment.
o Carry out necessary repairs on faulty machinery or equipment.
- Perform general maintenance tasks around the facility, such as repairing fixtures or plumbing.
- Identify and resolve maintenance issues, implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and is completed with required information.
Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility and equipment to identify any potential maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs.
- Assist with inventory management of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests, as needed.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
- Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
- Responsible for food safety, prerequisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
- Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal.
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks.
- Must be able to push, pull, stand, walk, climb, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds.
- May have some exposure to dust, fumes and cleaning chemicals.
- 2+ years of experience in maintenance work, food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
o Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools used in a manufacturing environment preferred.
o Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and sensors preferred.
o HVAC experience is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with machinery and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Familiar with safety protocols and regulations
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills
- Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings, when necessary.
Shift : 3rd Shift (11 : 00pm 7 : 30am) 3-4 weeks of training will be 1st shift, (7 : 00am 3 : 30pm)
Hourly Rate : $18.00 - $22.00
Job Type : Full-time
Salary : $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
