Title : Director / Senior Director. US Economist

Team Overview :

The Barings Economic and Thematic Research team provides investment rmendations by

focusing on the intersection between economics and financial markets across a wide class of assets including equities, fixed ie / credit, currencies, andmodities.

We generate fundamental research aimed at identifying short-term market drivers and long-term investment-relevant themes.

Our clients include internal investment teams and, external clients such as mutual funds, pension funds, and major non-financial corporations, among others.

Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced economist to join the BETR team. Working closely with the Head of Macroeconomic Research and other members of the team, the economist will :

• Analyses and interpret high-frequency economic data releases
• Follow macro developments to form a holistic, clear and reasoned outlook for the economy
• Work with the economists on the team on economic research projects, both short-term focused and long-term / thematic
• Write occasional research pieces of their own
• Maintain and expand the team's forecasting models
• Work with colleagues in sales and trading as well as external clients to answer questions and explain the team's views and research results

Preferred Qualifications :

• Master degree, preferably in Economics
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of statistical analysis, ideally with coursework in econometrics
• Excellent written and verbalmunication
• Solidputer programming skills (Excel, Stata and / or Python)
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience
• Strong interest in macroeconomics
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work both autonomously and in a team setting

Base Salary : $145,000+
