We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to spearhead our expansion into AI and ML technologies space, with a special focus on Generative AI.
This pivotal role involves developing innovative Generative AI solutions that generate dynamic content, automate decision-making, anomaly detection, and provide predictive analytics,and transforming how businesses interact with data.
You will also address complex challenges and shape technical strategies that enhance our platform and New Relic product portfolio and foster cross-team collaboration.

What you'll do
- Lead and drive Generative AI Initiatives within the Cloud Platform team, play a central role in identifying and developing generative AI projects that innovate content creation, enhance decision-making processes, and provide predictive analytics, revolutionizing data interaction across business landscapes.
- Set and drive clear team objectives focused on impactful project outcomes, optimizing AI system architecture and infrastructure, and boosting developer productivity.
- Lead through rigorous data analysis to deliver substantial improvements, crafting use cases and methodologies to evaluate and refine strategic approaches.
- Drive the development of a comprehensive generative AI SDK, integrating Large Language Models like OpenAI and Google AI with popular programming languages such as Python, Java, c# etc.
using platforms like AWS Bedrock or Azure Semantic Kernel or Google’s Vertex AI.
- Own and drive extensive technical efforts across multiple teams, ensuring projects are executed seamlessly and meet high standards.
- Mentor and support the professional development of engineers, and data engineers, enhancing the quality of engineering work and facilitating effective team integration.
- Drive and lead creating AI Proof of Concepts and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and supporting multiple business domains and iterating on the MVP models.
- This role not only demands deep technical expertise in AI and generative technologies but also strong leadership and strategic insight to guide and empower teams towards innovative solutions in the dynamic field of AI.
This role requires
- 6+ years of professional work experience in software development and / or operations
- Strong strategic vision for the use of generative AI within the business context, identifying areas where it can provide competitive advantages or improve operational efficiencies.
- Deep knowledge of generative models, including Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), and Large Language Models (LLMs) like OpenAI’s GPT series, BERT, and Transformer architectures.
This involves understanding their architecture, training methods, and applications.
- Strong coding skills in Python, Java, or C#, with a solid grasp of AI-focused libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, and other frameworks that support generative AI development.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms that offer specific support for deploying and scaling generative models, such as Google’s Vertex AI, Azure’s AI tools, and AWS’s Machine Learning services.
- Skills in manipulating large datasets and generating synthetic data, which is crucial for training and fine-tuning generative models.
- Experience in applying generative techniques in practical applications such as content creation, data augmentation, simulation, and anomaly detection.

- Proven experience with enterprise-scale technical delivery experience with AI Services including OpenAI, Schematic Kernel, AWS Bedrock, Machine Learning (or equivalent), Generative AI, LLM customization, NLP, Search, MLOps, Open-source AI frameworks, AI Infrastructure, architecture design
- Ability to align AI / ML initiatives with broader business goals and outcomes, understanding how AI can drive value and competitive advantage.
- Proven years’ experience creating AI Proof of Concepts and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and supporting multiple business domains
