We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role involves various accounting responsibilities within the non-profit sector.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, and managing other accounting activities.
Responsibilities :
- Efficiently process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Assist in the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is recorded accurately.
- Handle grant accounting and management, ensuring compliance with all associated regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members to improve and streamline accounting processes.
- Perform additional accounting duties and participate in special projects as needed.
- Prior experience working in a non-profit organization is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Experience in Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger maintenance.
- Proficiency in preparing Journal Entries.
- Experience with Month End Close procedures.
- Knowledge of Grant Accounting and Grant Management is essential.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High ethical standards and professionalism, with a commitment to confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
