The Departmentof Landscape Architecture advances research and innovative design practices inthe natural and built environments as they intersect with processes ofurbanization and the present realities of a changing climate.
The Department of Landscape Architecture invitesapplications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank ofAssistant / Associate Professor with a focus on design.
The successful candidatewill demonstrate expertise in design at several scales and contexts. Inaddition, the candidate will have expertise in one or more of the followingareas : material culture, climate, design innovation, geography, design culture,urbanization, and environment.
We seek individuals with the capacity forcross-disciplinary research, pedagogy, and practice who can contribute toshaping contemporary debates on changing climates and how design contributes toa more equitable distribution of ecological and environmental resources.
Whilethe department’s priority is appointing full-time tenure-track faculty, we willalso consider candidates for part-time Assistant / Associate Professorships in Practiceof Landscape Architecture.
Teaching responsibilities will include instruction in therequired studio courses for the professional MLA programs, as well asplaying an active role in shaping design pedagogy in the core studiocurriculum.
The successful candidate will be expected to regularly engage withdesign students and faculty through thesis advising, guest critiques, and projectreviews within the department and across the GSD.
Teaching will beconducted in the context of an interdisciplinary design school with facultiesin architecture, urban planning and design, and advanced studiesprograms.
This appointment is anticipated to start in the fall of2025. We will review applications on a rolling basis beginning in September2024.

Subsequent Submission

2. Statement of teaching philosophy and design / researchinterests, describing the following in no more than 750 words :
a) your pedagogical approach, including how your projectsand research relate to the broader goals of landscape architectural education.
b) your plans for a design / research agenda at the GSD.
c) Please also address the following question in yourteaching statement : Given our commitment to inclusion, how have youdemonstrated your approach to pedagogy and mentoring for a student cohort thatis diverse across multiple dimensions including but not limited to religion,nationality, ethnicity, race, and gender identity?
Please specify how you haveenacted this approach.

Education Requirements : The Department has a strong preference for candidates who hold a graduate degree in landscape architecture, but candidates with a graduate degree in a related design field will be considered.
