- A hospital in California is looking for an experienced Labor & Delivery / PP nurse for a travel contract.
- The right candidate will have 2 full years of experience, hold an active BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN and CA License.
Job Requirements
- 2 full years of experience in Labor & Delivery / PP.
- Active BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN and CA License required.
- Experience needed in the Mother baby / Postpartum units.
- Required to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (which includes the day before, holiday, and day after).
- C-section experience required : Yes- scrub, recovery, and circulate experience required for L&D.
Schedule Information
- Shifts : 12 hr shifts- 7a, 11a, and 7p.
- Weekend Requirement : 4 shifts in a 4 week period.
- Holidays : 1 Major, 1 Minor.
- Floor specific orientation : 3 Shifts.
Unit Specific Information
births per day, per year : 130 births per month.
- Nurse Aides / OB tech : Scrub techs on L& D, otherwise none.
- Charge Nurse : Yes- shared between L&D and PP.
- Call Requirement : None on either.
- Scrub Color : Provided.
- Tele : None-will tx out.
- Vents : None.
- OB / Neonataologist in house : None-currently working on it.

L&D Beds : 10 beds - 2 OR's in L&D.

Postpartum beds : 18 beds.

- Certs : BLS, NRP, ACLS, A1 fetal heart monitoring.
- Ratios : 1 : 1 close to delivery, 1 : 2 otherwise, 1 : 4 couplets on postpart.
- FHM System : Obix fetal monitoring.
- EMR : Cerner.
- IV Team : None.
- RT 24 / 7 : Yes.
- Pharmacy 24 / 7 : Yes.
- Floating : PP-no unless NICU background for feeder / grower, L&D to postpartum. Typically don't work interchangably.
- Common diagnosis / Types of patients : Deliver down to 23 wks, some high risk- Antepartum, HTN , plan to tx out if known cardiac abnormality.
Have perinatology support.
- EOW; First to Float.
