Summary :
The MRI Technologist works independently, performingcomplex and specialized procedures. The MRI Technologist must beable to use a wide variety of imaging equipment and computers.
Theincumbent must be able to provide basic MRI screening of patientsand employees, prepare maintenance and repairs, participate in QA,and resolve issues related to MRI safety.
The technologist musthave the knowledge to make quick and highly technical decisions inorder to accommodate physical restrictions and pathology.
Ongoingparticipation with MR education, safety, protocol development,quality assurance, and technical advances are integrated withclinical scanning.
Behavior and communication skills must alignwith the organizations mission, values and culture.
Responsibilities :
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUSCompetencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader ofLeaders.
- Performs a variety of diagnostic proceduressome of a more complex nature, utilizing state of the artcomputerized MRI diagnostic imaging equipment.
- Demonstrates competency with respect to MRI exams, procedures andthe use of pressurized injection equipment.
- AssistsRadiologist in invasive and biopsy type procedures using MRIequipment to pinpoint anatomical locations.
- Uponcompletion of procedures, the technologist programs the computer toassure completion of exam and all scan data is correctly stored onPACS for future reference.
- Coordinates andprioritizes procedures during the workday to maintain a high levelof patient care and continuity.
- Ensures all chargesare correctly coded and entered in the billing system.
- Demonstrates and maintains competence with all age specificgroups to ensure proper completion of studies.
- Appropriately adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment, and / orcare methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial,cultural, spiritual, age specific and other developmental needs ofeach patient served.
- Ensure compliance with allpolicies, procedures and standards as promulgated by State andFederal agencies, the hospital and other regulatory entities.
- Performs all duties in a manner that protects theconfidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose anyconfidential information unless it is necessary in the performanceof assigned job duties.
- Basic computer knowledgerequired
- Ability to communicate effectively, bothverbally and in writing
- Excellent customer serviceskills required
- Demonstrates adherence to the Corevalues of Christus Health.
- Performs other duties asassigned.
Requirements : Education / Skills
Education / Skills
Graduate of AMA approved School of RadiologicalSciences or other accepted and approved equivalentrequired
Experience
- 1 year of experience in a hospital or Clinicalsetting preferred
- 3 years of experiencein a clinical Imaging setting is highlypreferred
Licenses,Registrations, or Certifications
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) from ARRT orARMRIT preferred
- Current state licensurerequired
- Current BLS (American HeartAssociation) required
