Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Hardware Engineering who will be instrumental in guiding the engineering team, shaping product innovation, and driving the technical strategy to develop high-quality, market-leading hardware solutions.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineering leader with a strong track record in managing complex hardware development cycles and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Strategy : Define and implement the hardware engineering strategy, aligning technical goals with overall business objectives to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Team Leadership : Lead and develop a team of hardware engineers across multiple projects, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Product Development : Oversee end-to-end hardware development, from concept and design through testing, validation, and production, ensuring that products meet performance, quality, and cost goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Collaborate with software, firmware, and product management teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware with other system components.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure products adhere to regulatory standards and company quality benchmarks through rigorous testing, validation, and compliance processes.
- Resource Management : Manage engineering budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and oversee vendor relationships to meet project milestones and deliverables.
- Innovation and R&D : Promote innovation by staying abreast of emerging technologies, exploring new approaches to hardware design, and incorporating best practices in engineering processes.
- Risk Management : Proactively identify and mitigate potential technical and operational risks, ensuring reliable product performance and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or an MBA are a plus.
- Experience : 10+ years in hardware engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.
- Technical Skills :
- Strong expertise in hardware design, including analog and digital circuits, PCB design, and system integration.
- Experience with testing, validation, and troubleshooting of complex hardware systems.
- Proficiency with hardware design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence, MATLAB, etc.).
Leadership Abilities :
- Demonstrated success in leading engineering teams, managing project timelines, and delivering high-quality products to market.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to various stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset and strong decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, industrial automation, or medical devices.
- Knowledge of embedded systems and firmware development.
- Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO, UL, FCC).
