Position Summary

The Clinical Supervisor of Integrated Behavioral Health is responsible for providing quality supervision to LGSW or LGPC and LICSW or LPC level therapists as needed.

This position provides integrated, short-term episodes of care to participants within the Primary Care Behavioral Health model.

The purpose of this position is to provide not only therapy, but also orientation, clinical guidance, quality assurance, and clinical oversight to the provision of behavioral health services as well as the integration of the Mary's Center Social Change Model.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills to support integration of care across program modalities, understand the integrated service delivery, and knowledge of trauma informed care.

Specific skills utilized in this role include excellent clinical skills and knowledge of a wide variety of conditions, the ability to effectively deliver brief solution-focused modalities, assistance facilitating team meetings as needed and an ability to support therapists during crisis intervention.

Other duties include project-based work that supports program development and implementation of grant or funding requirements such as data collection or report writing.

Reportability

This position will report directly to the Senior Clinical Manager of Behavioral Health Integration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Supervisor must have all qualifications necessary from their jurisdiction. For Maryland behavioral health, one must be a certified supervisor according to the Board of Social Work in MD to supervise and therefore become a Clinical Supervisor.

Clinical and Service Provision :

  • Receive consultations and warm hand-offs (WHO's) from clinic staff when participants are identified to have a behavioral health concern.
  • Explain IBH therapist's role, participant rights and responsibilities, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
  • Complete a functional assessment and complete care plan on all participants referred and gather appropriate information / liaise with primary care providers around reasons for referral.
  • Determine DSM-5 diagnosis.
  • Provide brief episodes of care (up to 8 sessions) to support participants in improving functioning and the achievement of short-term personal goals.
  • Document all contacts, referrals, and other necessary information.
  • Maintain participant records that are accurate, comprehensive, and adhere to documentation policies and billing timelines.
  • Meet weekly productivity standards as set by Director of BHI.
  • Apply crisis management skills when necessary to stabilize participants.
  • Maintain monthly statistics and provide reports as needed to Director of BHI.
  • Participate in weekly case reviews of participants in peer group supervision.
  • Accept cultural diversity and integrate the participant's values and culture into services.

Clinical and Administrative Supervision and / or Project Supervision :

  • Demonstrate competence in project coordination to include appropriate collaboration, communication, and organization.
  • Participate in primary care clinic meetings to support integration and foster positive relationships within the multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Provide clinical supervision to up to licensed graduate social workers, licensed clinical social workers, licensed graduate level professional counselors, licensed professional counselors, and other positions that support program implementation.
  • Implement and provide oversight to clinical services provided by the Behavioral Health Department.
  • Engage in the interview process for vacant integrated behavioral therapist positions.
  • Participate in and / or lead clinical team meetings to discuss cases through group supervision activities and lead group supervision.
  • Identify and implement evidence based clinical practices appropriate to the population served.
  • Lock required notes within 48 hours of receipt of the note.
  • Ensure and maintain the high-level of quality-of-service delivery supporting the team in meeting their productivity standards.
  • Participate in the weekly 24-hour on-call rotation schedule.
  • Identify and participate in trainings or committees necessary to support understanding and integration of mental health and further professional growth.
  • Ensure staff maintain their CEU requirements to maintain their license and to enhance their continued professional growth.
  • Complete individual timesheet and review and approve assigned staff timesheets in Paycom system, ensure grant codes are correct.
  • Develop Performance evaluations and develop, when necessary, performance improvement plans designed to coach assigned employees to improved performance.

Documentation :

  • Ensure therapist quality and compliance of all documentation to include insurance authorization, eCW documentation, Diagnostic Assessments, and Individualized treatment plans.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of all supervision meetings and maintain supervisory agreements with all supervisees.
  • Ensure timely documentation writing and approvals and notes in eCW

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -

  • An active, independent license (LICSW or LPC) in either Washington, DC or Maryland is required, and the dual licensure will be expected to be maintained in both jurisdictions within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred candidates should possess 2+ years of clinically licensed work experience (LICSW, LCSW-C, LPC, or LMFT), have a DC and preferably MD Clinical License and must have an average rating of 3+ on a performance review for previous year (for internal candidates) and the following skills :
  • Strong organizational, leadership, professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge related to integrated behavioral health including the core components of the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model
  • Strong professional judgement and ability to apply an ethical framework in clinical considerations.
  • Consistently meeting or exceeding productivity and documentation requirements.
  • Demonstrates leadership in department through any number of activities such as committee work, training, case conferences, external advocacy.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed supervision and care practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to bridge various points of view to support employees while also forwarding department goals.
  • The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships across the agency.
  • A strong understanding of structural oppression in all its forms, and ability to self-reflect on and mitigate implicit bias in themselves and support others to do the same.

Language Requirement - Ability to communicate effectively in English is required. Additional language proficiency or fluency in Spanish preferred.

Physical Demands - Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear;

must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Work Environment - This is a hybrid virtual and in-person integrated position whose office will be co-located within the medical clinic and includes both moderate noise level and interruptions.

May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity due to outside weather conditions. May be exposed to potentially hazardous blood-borne / respiratory pathogens and bodily fluids which require the practice of Universal Precaution procedures.
