Cenovus is looking for students seeking an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a refining environment. We are looking for individuals who can bring fresh ideas to the table, and who are willing to learn from some of the industry's most innovative and talented people.

Candidates must have their means of transportation as there is no public transportation in field locations.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with the upgrade of control computers onsite.
  • Monitor Controls network for McAfee compliance and resolve issues that arise.
  • Monitors Controls network to ensure timely backups and resolve issues that arise.
  • Deploy approved Microsoft updates to control assets.
  • Maintain and update the asset inventory list for control assets.
  • Update Network and Fiber drawings plant-wide
  • Assist with installation of new networking and control hardware for infrastructure upgrades.
  • Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of the Power Monitoring system onsite.

Who you are

  • Available to begin work on January 6, 2025
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • As this position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, a valid US Driver's License is required.
  • Previous experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong attitude for carrying out all work in a safe, cautious manner while following safe work practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer science, Information Technology, or Information Systems, or a related technology / engineering degree
  • Preference will be given to students in 3rd or 4th year.
  • Currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a master’s or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
  • Strong academic performance
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the scheduled semester.
  • Attached copies of transcripts
  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

Working Conditions

May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.

Safety Sensitive

This is a safety sensitive role and as such you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours.

Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the Cenovus pre-employment medical and drug / alcohol assessment requirements.

Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle. A valid US Driver’s License with no restrictions is a requirement for this role.
