Job Description

We are seeking dedicated construction laborers and carpenters to contribute to our projects at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Schools, specifically on the Level 7 & 8 NICU. This role involves a variety of tasks including general demo duties, site cleaning, assisting carpenters, and material handling. The position offers the opportunity to be trained as a carpenter on the job.

Responsibilities

• Perform general demo duties and maintain a clean job site.
• Assist carpenters by cutting wood and handling materials.
• Engage in material handling and transport tools through the University.
• Install door frames and hang wall protection.
• Frame, drywall, and install doors, windows, kitchen, and bath hardware.

Work Environment

Expect to work in teams of 3-5 people, wearing boots, jeans, and a T-shirt. Standard hours are Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 : 30 p.m., with potential for night and weekend work. Workweeks may extend up to 50 hours.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00 / hr.
