Nature & Purpose of Position :

We are seeking a motivated and responsible part-time student worker to assist with various administrative and operational tasks, including classroom preparation, recruitment activities, and other duties as required.

This position is ideal for a student looking to gain practical experience in a dynamic academic environment.

Other Requirements for the Position :

Key Responsibilities : 1. Classroom Preparation : - Assist in setting up classrooms for lectures, seminars, and other academic events.

  • Organize and distribute materials such as handouts, textbooks, and equipment.- Ensure classroom technology (e.g., projectors, computers) is functioning properly.
  • Support instructors with any last-minute requests or adjustments.2. Recruitment Assistance : - Help organize and participate in recruitment events.
  • Distribute promotional materials and provide information to prospective students.- Assist in the coordination of virtual and in-person recruitment activities.
  • Maintain and update databases of prospective students and applicants.3. General Administrative Support : - Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and scheduling.
  • Assist with communication efforts, including drafting emails, making phone calls, and preparing presentations.- Support special projects and events as needed, providing logistical and operational assistance.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.Qualifications : - Currently enrolled as a student at SHSU.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.- Availability to work 20-28 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications : - Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.- Familiarity with College of Criminal Justice or academic administration.

Work Schedule : - Flexible schedule to accommodate academic commitments, with an expectation of pre-identified recruiting events.
