Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. Four (4) years experience inan avionics / electrical career field.
or two (2) years of accreditedschooling in aviation electronics and two (2) years relatedexperience. A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) licensepreferred.
Other FCC preferred. Other NCATT preferred.
PositionPurpose :
Provides technical expertisein testing aircraft systems, troubleshooting and repairing systemdiscrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact.
Demonstratestechnical expertise by implementing process changes to reduce costand meet schedule without compromising safety or quality.
May fillin for the Senior Avionics / Electrical Technician thus ensuring thatthe company goals of safety and quality are enforced at all timeswhile adhering to daily work plans to maintain schedulerequirements.
Job Description
Principle Duties andResponsibilities :
Essential Functions :
- Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in avionicsand aircraft systems operational testing andtroubleshooting.
- Performsthe installation and functionally testing of electrical / avionicscomponents and systems on aircraft per Engineering specifications,drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect freesystem.
- Ensures qualityand efficiency of all installations : troubleshootsprocesses / concepts to provide timely, quality repairs ofmalfunctioning systems.
- Demonstrates the skills and knowledge required. to effectively andefficiently repair or replace defective components and wiring toensure installations meet conformity.
Demonstrates effective repairtechniques using acceptable practices including splicing, solderingand pinning of wiring.
- Performs and complies with engineering changes and modifications asrequired.
- Sets up andoperates necessary test equipment. Conducts functional andoperational tests to evaluate performance andreliability.
- Ensures thatall work performed on the aircraft is properly and completelydocumented and ready for inspection.
- Tests and maintains test equipment, electronic systems,and components.
- Complieswith the company FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program andall safety regulations.
- Adapt to sudden schedule changes.
Additional Functions :
Insupport of aircraft certification and final phase testing, mayinclude flight tests on aircraft as required..
Perform other duties asassigned.
Other Requirements :
- Preferred proficiency in the operation andtroubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines other thanavionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls,environmental controls or structural installations and repairs.
- Ability to read andinterpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Demonstrates excellent communicationskills. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally andwritten.
- Must be able toclimb stairs and ladders, work in confined areas and lift up to 50pounds.
- Must be able toread, write, speak, and understand the English language.
