To be the area expert in performing routine and specialized examinations in Ultrasound; adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and / or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist, cardiologist, or board certified vascular specialist. This position is also the preceptor and resource technologist in the area for training of employees / students and daily functions. Additionally, all other duties are required or assigned.

Qualifications

Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Education : Associate's Degree : Sonography (Required), Work Experience : Related field

Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence / Patient Care

• Performs high quality vascular and ultrasound procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages and is expected to be the expert.
• Exhibits competency in performing ultrasound procedures
• Images required views demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology
• Knowledgeable of catheters, biopsy instruments and sterile trays and prepares these items as necessary
• Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients / families
• Evaluates the finished images to ensure diagnostic exams are being submitted to the radiologists
• Maintains quality care throughout the procedure
• Maintains expert working knowledge of all medical Imaging department Ultrasound equipment (including hardware and software)
• Expert and resource person for trouble-shooting equipment
• Develops and records protocols under the direction of the Medical Directors
• Maintains accurate performance records of all equipment
• Assures accrediting protocols are followed
• Facilitates growth of the combined areas of general and vascular

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $34.87per hour - $59.98per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
