Founded in 1982 as Joliet Area Community Hospice, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care is an independent, nonprofit healthcare provider licensed in 11 counties in northwest Illinois. We provide exceptional serious illness care, hospice care and grief support for adults and children.

The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility. We also have a 20-bed inpatient unit in Joliet. Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices.

The EMR Systems & Data Analyst supports the coordination, maintenance, and reporting functions of the organization's electronic medical record (EMR) systems. This position maintains data integrity, supports analysis needs, and develops reports and dashboards to support quality, compliance, and operational decision-making. The analyst collaborates across departments to ensure accurate and meaningful data use. This position is responsible for :

  • Develop, test, and maintain routine and ad hoc reports from the electronic medical record systems.
  • Act as the central point of contact for EMR reporting needs, ensuring alignment across clinical, quality, compliance, finance, and operational teams.
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and visuals to support internal reporting needs.
  • Support data integrity through system audits and validation processes.
  • Collaborate with the EMR Optimization Specialist to assess the impact of system changes on reporting and data access.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, financial, and quality staff to understand data needs and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with implementation of new EMR features that impact data collection and reporting.
  • Monitor system updates for reporting changes or impacts.
  • Coordinate with vendor technical teams to troubleshoot data flow or extract / reporting discrepancies.

The qualifications for this position include a Bachelor's degree in health information, analytics or related field with a minimum of two (2) years experience with electronic medical records and healthcare data coordination or reporting. Proficiency in Power BI or equivalent data visualization tools.
