Position Summary :
Inspector oversees all new construction. Work with contractors to edit plans & fix issues as they arise. Oversees & ensures testing has been done & construction is to Pace standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

- Ensures contractor plans are executed to PWS Specifications
- Inspect installation and repairs of PWS jobs performed by employees and contractors
- Review plans before construction
- Trouble shoots issues that create construction conflicts for contractors when arises
- Verify quantities for pay requests
- Signs off on contractor testing; pressure, camera, air, vac, mandrel pulling
- Signs off on contractor equipment to be used to conduct tests
- Coordinate PWS employees to locate water / sewer / reclaim and pull bacT samples on job sites
- Assist with close out documents (as-builts)
- Attend pre-construction meetings
- Compare submitted plans to the contractor’s final plans
- Perform site visits to jobs to ensure job is being installed per PWS approved plans & specs
- Check and make comments on as-builts
- Complete daily project inspection reports
- Assist the water / wastewater departments as needed
- Performs other duties as directed by immediate supervisor or General Manager
- Required to be scheduled for the department’s on-call duty on a routine basis
Minimum Qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED
- Five (5) years’ experience in related field
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations :
- Valid Driver’s License
- State of Florida Class A Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within a six (6) months (must be approved as insurable driver by insurance carrier)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Read & understand blueprints / plans
- Knowledge of Pace’s geography and street / meter locations with the ability to become proficient
- Knowledge of operating principles of water meters
- Skills in the operation and maintenance of hand tools, light and heavy equipment
- Ability to learn residential and commercial pipe systems and plumbing fixtures
- Ability to read and use area maps and utilize electronic devices
- Ability to make simple mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately
- Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions
- Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain a professional effective working relationship with associates and to positively interact with all levels of employees and members of public
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Ability to ascertain priorities and meet deadlines and objectives
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in decision-making in all phases of responsibilities
Physical Demands :
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to operate basic operations equipment
- Use of close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to distinguish shades of colors
- Physically demanding work will typically involve some combination of standing, walking, lifting, pulling, stooping, crouching, bending / kneeling, reaching, pushing, crawling, climbing, balancing, and repetitive motions
- Moderate to heavy lifting is required (up to 50 pounds)
- Exposure to disagreeable environmental factors, such as outside weather conditions, dampness / humidity, heat and cold, noisy and dusty conditions, odors, heights, and working in and with moving objects and moving vehicles
- Requires movement on slippery and uneven surfaces, working below ground level and with feet, legs or hands in water
