As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing packaging solutions that ensure the integrity, functionality, and cost-effectiveness of our products.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to create innovative packaging that meets both customer needs and regulatory requirements.

This is a Contract opportunity located near Downers Grove, IL.

Responsibilities :

• Create and develop packaging designs for new and existing products, ensuring they meet all functional, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop prototypes and conduct testing to ensure packaging solutions meet performance standards, including durability, safety, and environmental impact.
• Evaluate and select appropriate packaging materials based on product requirements, cost, and sustainability considerations.
• Work closely with Product Development, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure packaging solutions are aligned with product and business goals.
• Implement quality control processes to ensure consistency and reliability of packaging.
• Ensure all packaging designs comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in packaging design and materials without compromising quality or functionality.
• Lead and support initiatives to improve the sustainability of packaging solutions, including reducing waste and improving recyclability.
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and ensure timely delivery of packaging components.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of packaging specifications, testing results, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in packaging engineering or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, design, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with CAD software and other design tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to packaging.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
