The Qualified Mental Health Professional is responsible for assuring the quality of service provided to Peer Support members, coordinating the day-to-day operations of the team, and recommending and implementing changes that would improve delivery of services.
The Qualified Mental Health Professional works closely and collectively with the members and staff to achieve the mission of the facility and fosters an atmosphere of collegiality that facilitates and sustains the empowerment model.
The Qualified Mental Health Professional is responsible to the Program Director.
Specific Duties :
1. Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the program and is responsible for the scheduling of meetings, services, staff time and handling emergency situations.
2. Acts as team lead and provides direction to clubhouse staff, monitors performance, evaluates staff performance and makes recommendations on personnel to Program Director.
3. Responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and revision of the Person Centered Plan (PCP) as it relates to the needs of the individual.
4. Consult with identified professionals, family members, and others, include their input in the Person Centered Planning process, inform all involved stakeholders, and monitor the status of the consumer relationships in relation to treatment goals.
5. Coach staff in working with consumers and provide training to other employees by demonstration, repetition, modeling, large group training, etc.
6. Assist with the coordination of new admissions and transfers (e.g.) screening applicants and facilitating placement, etc.
7. Responsible for quality assurance of the clubhouses service delivery, including ensuring timely completion and filing of all required documentation
8. Engages and works alongside members to ensure completion of unit activities, when needed.
9. Fully participates in agency outcome evaluation system. Ensures the collection of required data.
10. Participates in collaborations with other Clubhouses / Peer Support or initiatives established by NC MH.DD / SAS.
11. Monitors overall team efficiency and effectiveness and implements performance improvement activities when indicated. Recommends to Program Director changes that would improve service delivery and implements changes as indicated.
12. Works closely with the Program Director to improve workflow processes.
13. Assists in the development and implementation of new programming or initiatives as assigned by the Program Director
14. Assumes responsibility for special projects and serves on agency work groups and initiatives as assigned by the Program Director.
15. Assists Program Director in preparing quarterly and annual reports as required by the management team.
16. May be responsible for providing field instruction for students of his / her respective professional discipline as opportunities permit.
17. Ensures Health and Safety and Incident Reporting requirements are upheld.
18. Abide by, enforce, and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all Southeastern safety standards and regulations.
19. Coordinates and participates in clinical case conferences, when needed.
20. Adheres to the agencys Administrative and Program Policies and Procedures.
21. Responsible for updating own knowledge base, keeping up to date with current trends in mental health, clubhouse and psychosocial rehabilitation.
22. Adheres to Professional Code of Ethics and complies with the State of North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and substance Abuse.
23. Performs additional related duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Educational Requirements :
a) Holds a license, provisional license, certificate, registration, or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, except a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing who also has four years of full-time accumulated experience in mh / dd / sa with the population served; or
b) a graduate of a college or university with a Master's degree in a human service field and has one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated mh / dd / sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or
c) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a human service field and has two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated mh / dd / sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has two years of full-time, post-bachelors degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or
d) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field other than human services and has four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated mh / dd / sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has four years of full-time, post-bachelors degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
Required Knowledge :
Expertise in working with individuals who have chronic mental illness and / or co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorders
Knowledge of and ability to implement the empowerment model
Leadership skills that result in a positive work environment for staff and members
Ability to work as part of a comprehensive community mental health team and to represent the facility in the community
Ability to work with the Program Director and AP to develop and follow an individual supervision plan
Knowledge of Community-Based Resources
Documentation Knowledge of NC Medicaid documentation requirements
Knowledge of Client Rights
Ability to handle crisis / emergency situations, and utilize conflict resolution skills
Knowledge of basic computer and applications including Microsoft Word
Minimum Qualifications :
At least 18 years of age
Graduation from a four-year college or university
Able to read, write, understand, and follow directions
No substantiated findings of abuse or neglect listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry
Work Environment :
Fast-paced, high-tech, customer-focused, and innovative clinical environment, constantly evaluating and improving processes;
creativity encouraged. Some evening and / or on-call weekend work is necessary.
Work Hours :
Monday Friday 8 : 00am 5 : 00pm
