Summary :
The competent Nurse, in the Critical Careand similar clinical setting , practicesindependently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspectsof a situation.
Provides routine and complex care, in accordancewith patient treatment plans. Continues to develop the ability tocope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing.
Makesappropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as ameans to help manage the clinical situation.
Responsibilities :

- Addresses increasingly complexpsychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient andfamilies in accordance with their level ofpractice.
- Using the appropriate protocol,administers medications and treatments; monitors for side-effectsand effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and caregiven.
- Assess learning needs and provideseducation to patients, family members and / or care givers; identifyissues and resources.

Education / Skills
Bachelor of Science Degree inNursing, preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of combined experiencerequired in both the Critical Care setting and one other specialty(e. g. Medsurg, Telemetry, IMC or Emergency).
5 years of experiencepreferred.
Licenses, Registrations, orCertifications
- BLSrequired.
- ACLS required.
- RN License in state of employment or compactrequired.
- PALS within 30 days of hire isrequired at CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital.
- NRPwithin 60 days of hire is required at CHRISTUS Children’sHospital.
