The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting to fill a classified management vacancy for a Senior Director, Charter Schools, in the Charter School Services office of the Business Services Division.
- Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, the Senior Director is responsible for directing the charter school authorization process;
- researching and tracking data and legislation pertaining to Charter Schools; functioning as the liaison to the County Office for school and community charter school petitioners;
providing oversight; and serving as a primary resource for charter school issues across San Diego County. The Senior Director will also plan and lead the work of the Charter School Services team.
This position is full-time and will offer the classified management benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, and participates in the CalPERS state retirement system.
Requirements / Qualifications
The Senior Director position requires a combination of experience and education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major course work in education, administration studies, or a related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of school budgets and curriculum, program development and implementation in public or government entities, including two years of experience supervising and evaluating staff.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of local and state codes and regulations related to charter schools, the charter school oversight process, and current trends in legislation related to charter schools.
The Senior Director must be able to build collaboration between diverse stakeholders and analyze data to create action plans and recommendations.
