Location : Remote Sales (Not required to be based in West Boylston, MA)

INTRODUCTION

Curtis Industries, LLC, founded in 1968, is a market leader in the design and manufacture of cab enclosures for a diverse set of vehicles including;

Compact Tractors, Golf Cars, and Utility Vehicles. Its customers include well known OEMs and a network of over aftermarket 6,000 dealers.

The company’s headquarters and plant operations are located in a recently constructed, custom designed 160,000 square foot facility in central Massachusetts.

Curtis has enjoyed consistent growth and is solidly profitable. The Company has been upgrading its engineering capabilities in order to increase the rate of new product introductions, shorten cycle times, and improve customer service.

In short, the stage is set for rapid revenue growth.

In order to continue to fuel the Company’s growth in revenue and profitability a decision has been made to grow the company’s business development capability.

This exciting opportunity exists for a driven, passionate individual with a successful track record of growing revenue by identifying and securing new opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, this important position is responsible for developing strategies that deliver business development and sales growth from existing markets, adjacent markets, and entirely new markets throughout North America.

The Director of Business development will lead the development of Curtis’s growth strategy and its tactical implementation.

Specific responsibilities include :

  • Identify and pursue new OEM opportunities (new customers and new markets)
  • Leverage the company’s insight into the OEM marketplace to develop and market innovative, new Aftermarket products
  • Identify strategic association partnerships, join key industry associations and maintain healthy relationships to further the company’s reach within the key vertical markets
  • Actively participate as a member of the Company’s leadership team

Execution will focus on market, segment and account selection by industry verticals; engaging engineering, commercial leaders and C-Level executives.

The selected candidate will work closely with the Senior Management Team to identify and support newly identified opportunities.

Candidate Qualifications and Background

  • The ideal candidate for the role will be an accomplished strategic sales professional who has successfully guided a component manufacturer serving the company’s markets through an aggressive growth phase.
  • Experience with low-middle volume OEM accounts in Curtis’s core and related markets.
  • Demonstrated the implementation of sales and marketing strategies and consistently met or exceeded planned objectives.
  • Curtis is particularly interested in candidates with relevant experience with a track record for making good decisions quickly, with imperfect data.

On a personal level, the ideal candidate will be thoughtful, visionary and decisive. The successful candidate will be someone who works in a collaborative manner and is comfortable quarterbacking multi-function teams organized around customer needs.

The ideal candidate will be hands on and lead by example.

DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES

  • A Bachelors Degree in a relevant area of study such as Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering or Management
  • 15 years of sales development, impeccable oral, written & presentation skills
  • Experience in strategic planning and decision making, as well as the tactical actions of successfully landing and growing identified business opportunities
  • Experience making significant contributions to the successful growth of a smaller market company
  • Experience in building effective customer relationships with senior executives
  • Experience in leading the development of valid, client-perspective value propositions, bids, proposals and internal business case presentations
  • Experience in contract law and demonstrated contract negotiation
  • Experience with CRM systems
  • Experience in creating completion plans and creating monthly reports illustrating accomplishments & opportunities

Ability to sell solutions and related services

Self-Starter, ability to function independently without daily management

Knowledge of technical processes & mechanical products

Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office : Excel, Outlook, Word, & PowerPoint

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct reports but must be able to collaborate and influence both internal and external resources.
