TITLE : Senior System Safety EngineerLOCATION : Onsite in Grand Prairie, TX , must live in the Grand Prairie, TX areaDESIRED START DATE : 7 / 16 / 2024 END DATE : 7 / 16 / 2025 PAY RATE : $69 / hr W2 (No health benefits while on contract)SECURITY CLEARANCE : ACTIVE Secret REQUIRED JOB DESCRIPTION : The Senior System Safety Engineer (SSE) is responsible for ensuring that the products developed and sold to the customer are safe for the warfighter to use.

A successful candidate will employ System Safety Engineering techniques which will be performed on the end item and its subsystems.

The primary job responsibility will be that of performing hazard analysis in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and contractual requirements.

The Senior SSE analyzes and recommends safety features and controls for system design, software, training and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards.

The Senior SSE also performs and supports the development of safety documentation to satisfy customer and contractual requirements.

The candidate works with systems and software engineering on architecture definition, use cases and generates software safety analyses in accordance with government guidelines.

Expectations are the Senior SSE can work independently with minimal oversight, based on professional experience and educational background.

Additional job duties may include the following : * Support the program by developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, hazardous material management planning and execution.

  • Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.* Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings.
  • Coordinate and lead System Safety Working Group (SSWG) meetings with both internal and external counterparts.* Flow down system safety requirements to suppliers and verify design implementation.
  • Assist in requirements development and verification.* Reviews specifications, technical documentation, and design changes for adverse impacts to system safety.
  • Support customer and test / operational range requirements.* Participates in the development of testing activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied.
  • Prepare technical documentation and presentation material to support various independent safety board meetings to gain approval on system design.
  • Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline* Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882* Developing and evaluating system safety requirements* Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines* Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses* Strong written and oral communication skills* Ability to make formal presentations to large groups* Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customersBS+6-8 YRS or MS+4-6 YRS DESIRED SKILLS : * Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards* Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering* Familiarity with missile and launcher systems* Model-based engineering knowledge* Experience with DOORS requirements application* Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction* Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy* Able to learn and work with System Safety specific software tools If you would like to interview for this position, please send an updated WORD version of your resume to Dee Smith, @ Dee SmithSr.
