Ludlum Measurements Inc. dba VPI Technology (VPI) is seeking a dedicated Program Manager to work in its D-tect Systems division in Draper, Utah.

The ideal candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and passionate. This individual will coordinate and monitor the scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of our Radiological Detection System (RDS) Program.

They will ensure adherence to U.S. government and other contracts and schedules, develop solutions to problems, and negotiate new contracts.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical focus preferred
  • U.S. citizenship due to customer-related requirements
  • Must qualify for U.S. security clearance at time of hire
  • 8+ years’ experience in a program management role strongly desired
  • 10+ years experience in the radiation industry

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong project management and continuous improvement skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly desired
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of radiation detection
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills
  • Ability to organize and lead internal and external meetings
  • Experience managing government contracts, programs, or projects is highly desired
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication for cross-functional teams and executive leadership
  • Strong critical thinking / problem-solving skills
  • Advanced time management and analytical skills
  • Organized with great attention to detail
  • Proficient with M.S. Word, Outlook, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working in a team-oriented atmosphere
  • High degree of professionalism and maturity with ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision
  • Ability to adapt to changes, delays, and unexpected events
  • High degree of integrity and ethics
  • Ability to travel on an as-needed basis (approx. 10% of job)

JOB Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing a complex program that involves managing fixed-price (FFP), cost plus fixed fee (CPFF), and fixed-price incentive fee (FPIF) contracts with high dollar volume or contract length
  • Deal with project technical and schedule challenges and promptly and professionally hold crucial conversations with customers, balancing the needs of our company and the customer
  • Assist in technical proposal writing and negotiating new contracts
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals and project objectives
  • Regularly report program performance to the customer through formal meetings and working groups
  • Oversee system pricing, procurement, production, and conformance testing on an ongoing basis
  • Oversee product enhancements within program including Engineering Change Proposals, Requests for Variances, and Corrective Action Reports
  • Develop relationships of understanding and trust with customers
  • Monitor project schedules and work with key players to keep or adjust timelines as necessary
  • Oversee program budget and schedules
  • Participate in Cost Accounting for government contracts
  • Provide feedback to management on project needs
  • Exercise good judgment, keeping in mind company policies and procedures
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and multitask on a variety of projects
  • Coordinate employees to develop project schedules, project cost estimates, and technology design approaches
  • All other duties as assigned
