Responsibilities

Mainspring has a high-impact opportunity for a Project Engineer, who will play a pivotal role in managing the development and execution of electrical hardware projects from concept to transfer to manufacturing.

The Project Engineer will leverage their leadership skills and technical expertise to drive project success through effective planning, coordination, and risk management.

In this role, you will

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets
  • Drive execution of hardware development projects to on-time delivery, within budget
  • Navigate the team through a rigorous development process, enforcing best practices along the way
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to manage supply chain and ensure availability of components and materials
  • Act as a liaison between the design and operations team, ensuring engineering changes successfully navigate from design to production implementation
  • Partner with other engineering leaders to coordinate resources across projects
  • Conduct project status meetings and provide progress to stakeholders
  • Develop new and improve existing business processes for the engineering department

This is a hybrid position (on-site + remote) and will require you to be on-site as required to support testing, troubleshooting, manufacturing support, etc.

Qualifications

  • A track record of successfully planning and driving execution of projects in a fast-paced environment. You have proven project management skills including project planning, cross-functional coordination, and risk management.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical hardware development. You have a degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of electrical or electromechanical hardware design principles and manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated experience managing the transition of new designs into production. You are well versed with the engineering change process.

The Bay Area salary for this role is $160k-$175k base + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA.

The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
