Description

Under minimal supervision, the Assistant Academic Research Scientist performs a wide range of highly technical and complex tasks necessary to advance basic and / or translational research programs.

This position will be co-supervised by Dr. Xin Hu (Assistant Professor in Health Services Research and Health Economics, Department of Radiation Oncology, and Dr.

Xu Ji (Assistant Professor in Health Services Research and Health Economics, Department of Pediatrics, style "margin : 0px;">

KEY RESPONSIBIITIES :

  • Responsible for working with experimental platforms specific to the hiring Program.
  • Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and communication of results of basic and / or translational research.
  • Will be required to review literature and apply advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development.
  • May assist in grant and other funding applications, as necessary and appropriate.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS :

Support the implementation of current studies, which may include research activities related to obtaining, modifying, and continuing institutional review board approval (IRB), supporting data transfer and management, and communicating with local partners.

Cleaning and analyzing data collected through the implementation of the previous clinical trial studies and existing secondary databases, such as electronic health records, cancer registry data, and administrative claims (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance).

Run advanced quantitative analyses using software such as SAS, Stata, R, etc.

Generate research questions for analysis and future grant applications.

Participate in the development of publications as lead and co-authors for peer-reviewed journals and grant proposals to funding agencies (.

National Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society).

Communicate research findings at key conferences (., Academyhealth, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Health Economists, .

Providing near-peer-mentorship to students and other early-career-scholars on the research team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • OR Master's degree and two years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab .
  • OR Bachelor's degree and four years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab.
  • Laboratory experience should be related to area of assignment.
  • Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification.

NOTE : Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
