Patient Transport - RN Team Lead

Summary : The Transport Team Leader (TL) is responsible for providing leadership to Transport Department staff in collaboration across all RN, RCP and Paramedic disciplines when operating as Operational Team Leader and Manager on Call (MOC). TLs provide support, guidance, and resources for the purpose of planning and executing daily operations.
Responsibilities :
- Performs all aspects within their licenses of the Clinical Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, or Paramedic job description when providing direct patient care during scheduled or impromptu transport shifts (including driving transport vehicle).
- When on a call the Transport Team Leader may function as lead caregiver in a two-person team (Medic / Medic; Medic / RT; or Medic / RN) composition and will cross over to be a third member of the critical care team (RN / RT / Medic). The Transport Team Leader will function independently during the transport of patients of all ages who have been classified as BLS and / or ALS I-2 category. As a member of the critical care team, the Transport Team Leader will assist the Transport RN and RT with patient care while utilizing their advanced skills and training in accordance with the Transport protocols set forth by the Transport Medical Director. They function as a second set of eyes for the pilots and are responsible for crew safety, recognizing hazards, and mitigating risk by performance. The Team Leader will have an active role in managing the customer service experience during the transport of patient and family members.
- Evaluates employee performance against existing department and organizational standards including annual PEAC review, quarterly reviews, coaching, feedback sessions as assigned, employee recognition, etc.
- Completes Operational Team Leader (OTL) responsibilities including completion and documentation of OTL Checklist
- Provides administrative On-Call coverage during nights, weekends, & holidays on a rotational basis
- Facilitates a just culture of safety & accountable performance of direct reports and all staff when OTL & / or MOC
- Supports the safety culture by providing psychological safety, creating interactive communication, encouraging reporting, and effectively monitoring and working on engagement daily
- Ensures that staff are knowledgeable of and held accountable to changes within the unit, department, division, and organization and are active change agents
- Supports communication that augments safe practices, explains and supports a just, accountable, and reporting culture of safety. Embraces the integrated safety management system into all aspect of the department
- Monitors and analyzes key metrics as assigned for quality / process improvement
- Ensures provision and inclusion of quality patient and family centered care in the transport environment
- Ensures high-level customer service performance by all team members
- Integrates with vendor pilots and mechanics
- Provides mentoring to staff and developmental opportunities to help team members achieve their career goals
- Coordinates completion of employee schedules with the staff, scheduling committee, and manager
- Supports action plans as a result of the feedback received from the annual Experience, Inclusion and Engagement Survey
- Completes scouting reports and weekly rounding on staff including follow-up to staff around concerns / ideas / needs
- Provides follow up to submitted SafeLink reports
- Maintains CHST owned vehicle fleet
- Assists Educator in orientation, ongoing education, simulation lab, quarterly & annual training
- Performs OTL Operational shift duties.
Quality Management Program :
