WorkSchedule :

The Medical LaboratoryTechnician service is required on a Monday Tuesday WednesdayThursday and Friday including weekends and holidays as required on8hour shift basis to support testing in the Laboratory.

The positions require individuals to work either of thebelow shifts depending on the laboratory needs andrequirements :

Qualifications / Credentialing

The Medical laboratory technician will be certified by theAmerican Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or AmericanMedical Technologists (AMT) or an equivalent Medical LaboratoryTechnician (MLT) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or ClinicalLaboratory Scientist (CLS) certification with appropriatetraining.

• Board Certification : Medical Laboratory Technicians are not required to be boardcertified only certified as an MLT MLS or CLS by the ASCPor AMT.
• Associate degree from anaccredited college or university in medical laboratory sciencemedical technology clinical laboratory or relatedscience.
• Completion of medical technologyclinical practice program and have all licenses permits andcertifications as required by law and thiscontract.
• Two years of experience in a healthcare field that demonstrates the applicants ability to perform thework or provides an understanding of the work such as but notlimited to a medical or clinical laboratory assistant (ortechnician) or health technician.
• TwoProfessional References.

Ageneralist is defined as a Medical Laboratory Technician who canperform testing in all areas of the Clinical Laboratory includingChemistry Blood Bank Hematology Urinalysis andMicrobiology.

Descriptions ofServices

To accomplishthis job successfully an individual must be able to perform with orwithout reasonable accommodation each essential functionsatisfactorily.

• Perform technicallaboratory functions including chemistry hematology urinalysis andimmunology.
• Report test results followingclinic protocols alerting providers and / or nurses about abnormalresults.
• Ensure quality control in collectingspecimens ensure appropriate sampling and maintain accurate recordkeeping.
• Maintain laboratory equipment andsupplies. Set up maintain calibrate clean and test sterility ofmedical laboratory equipment.
• Comply with alllaboratory policies and OSHA regulations related to safetycleanliness and infection control.
• Perform allother duties as assigned.

Technical Knowledge : Generalist

• Abides byall procedures and policies set forth by the Laboratory andChemistry Department.
• Determines propercollection and timely submission of specimens.
• Processes specimens in a timely manner following written guidancein Lab policy for specific turnaround timerates.
• Performs and reports all tests inaccordance with established procedures in an effort to meetspecific turnaroundtime criteria.
• Performsquality control procedures on assigned instruments and methods asper Quality Control procedure.
• Analyzes andinterprets test and control data. Reports results expediently forstat testing.
• Investigates inconsistentresults and initiates corrective actions whenwarranted.
• Prepares and loads onto theinstrument : reagents calibrators and quality control materials asneeded.

Employees musthave proof of the following tests :

Tuberculosis Testing : A negative Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) orinterferongamma release assays (IGRA). A negative chestradiographic report for active tuberculosis shall be provided incases of positive TST or IGRA results.

The TST or IGRA testingshall be repeated annually.

• Measles Mumps & Rubella Testing : Provide proof of immunity for contract all contractemployees.
• Varicella : Proof of immunity for all contractemployees.
• Acellular Pertussis : Provide proof of 1 dose of Tdap vaccination for allcontract employees.
• I n fluenza : Proof that all contract employees have received the annualInfluenza vaccine unless it is contraindicated.

If the contractemployee has a medical contraindication to the vaccine they shallbe required to wear a mask during the Influenzaseason.

COVID19 : Proof that all contract employees have received theCovid 19 vaccine unless there is a medical or religious waver.

Ifthe contract employee has an approved medical or religious waver tothe vaccine they shall be required to provide a negative Covid testweekly at the administration and cost of thecontractor.
