JOB DUTIES
Description
Join our cutting-edge research team as a Laboratory Assistant and contribute to groundbreaking HIV immunology and gut microbiome projects.
Under the direction of the Lab Manager and Principal Investigator, you’ll process clinical specimens for a large tissue bank, prepare samples for sequencing and flow cytometry, and perform DNA / RNA extractions, PCR, ELISAs, and Bioplex assays.
You’ll also maintain cell cultures and manage daily lab operations, including equipment compliance, inventory, and documentation.
Salary : $25.75 $30.71 hourly
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
Required :
- Skills in using PC software such as : Word for Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, LDMS.
- Skill in sterile technique for tissue and cell culture, cell freezing and storage.
- Skill in isolation of cells from blood and various tissues.
- Ability to perform ELISA and multiplex Luminex assays.
- Ability to operate and keep in good working order all laboratory equipment
- Ability to communicate well with other investigators and laboratory personnel.
- Ability to read and learn new techniques as required.
- Mathematical skills to prepare calculations
- Knowledge of medical and scientific terminology and symbols.
Preferred :
- Skill in PCR technology (RNA and DNA purification and quantitation)
- Skill in bacterial culture, including anaerobic cultures
- Background in biological sciences and experience in a research environment.
- Degree in biological sciences.
