POSITION SUMMARY

Alterra Mountain Company is seeking a data-driven, strategic Procurement Director with a proven track record of driving procurement interventions and value through senior leader influencing, data driven analysis, and problem-solving solutions that gain acceptance of individual profit centers.

A leader who can help deliver against business strategies through creation and alignment of appropriate procurement strategies.

Who has a bias for action and execution. To succeed, the Director will build effective connections and relationships across all resorts and within Shared Services.

This will be accomplished by extensive internal communications, personally delivering through such activities as negotiating and implementing regional / national agreements that maximize Alterra's procurement leverage and value;

identifying, adapting, and implementing best practices; improving / re-engineering existing procurement processes; and optimizing Alterra's supplier base.

The Director will report to the VP, Procurement, helping develop company strategies while partnering daily with the EVP of Hospitality, VP of Food & Beverage, and other direct reports / partners across resorts and in Shared Services.

There are no direct reports at this time.

The role will focus primarily in supporting our success in Hospitality, which includes Lodging, Food & Beverage, Ski Schools, Rentals, and Retail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

General Responsibilities

Secures buy-in at all levels of the organization. Communicates vision, purpose, and savings opportunities to senior management of resorts, functions, and daily users.

Ensures clear communication of goals, roles, responsibilities, and creates organizational unity surrounding procurement.

Links with rest of Shared Services Procurement team to ensure needs understood and built into strategies.

Uses best practices and tools to identify value opportunities within the business and across categories. Develops and executes procurement strategies.

Assesses baseline spending data and prepares, and executes, sourcing and negotiation strategies to achieve savings and efficiencies.

Reports savings by resort and function that sum to the enterprise level.

  • Assesses organizational barriers to success, evaluates within Matrix, and determines how to capitalize for Alterra. Provides direction and leadership concerning implementation, pace, impact to Alterra / resorts, and opportunities within the matrix.

  • Develops communications / change management strategies by identifying target customers, users, vendors, and support staff to communication vision, purpose, and savings opportunities to overcome issues associated with change.
  • Conducts sourcing. Develops inquiries and negotiation plans. Aligns success criteria to make supplier decisions. Analyzes vendor bids, negotiates enterprise wide national / global agreements.

Reviews data and works with subject matter experts to determine which vendor(s) best meets Alterra's requirements. Selects the vendors that meet and fit all of Alterra's requirements, including price, terms, delivery, quality, etc.

Implements contracts.

Serves as a link between the business teams and the Shared Services Procurement team. Ensures clear understanding of business needs.

Develops category sourcing strategies relevant for the business. Helps communicate and implement the strategies with business teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in Procurement, particularly in indirect categories like food & beverage, lodging, professional services, capital, facilities, shared services, and retail.
  • Experience in Procurement process re-design.
  • Proven track record of leading Procurement interventions through strong analysis, robust strategy creation, influencing senior leaders and obtaining excellent results.
  • Demonstrated expertise in all Procurement processes. Ability to apply, and tailor, as appropriate for the specific business circumstances.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, Business or related field, or equivalent work experience

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position.

Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and / or necessary travel.

The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.'s total compensation package for employees.

Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Denver area base salary range : $127,000 to $184,000 per year
