our client is looking to hire a motivated, organized, and hard working hands on Construction Superintendent who will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all the activities of a construction site according to the project blueprints and schedule plans.
Duties include coordinating subcontractors, construction crews, performing quality control and safety checks, and providing on-site direction when preparing construction sites.
The Construction Superintendent will effectively handle complete organizational and project management responsibilities to ensure the construction team has all the resources they need.
Primary Job Duties
Manage the construction crew and subcontractors, including work schedules, project progress and resource allocation.
Obtain change requests and change order approvals in an efficient manner.
Communicate with office personnel and other employees on a regular basis by responding in a timely manner to emails, texts, and phone calls.
Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organize meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary.
Collaborate with clients, the VP of Construction, and Estimator to determine the budget and timeline.
Ensure job sites remain safe, clean, and orderly.
Resolve on-site issues and emergencies.
Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.
Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project.
Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors to complete each project on time.
Manage job site safety, quality, and schedule for assigned projects from pre-construction to closeout.
Mentor and develop field team members while effectively managing the overall team.
Must be deadline-driven while ensuring quality standards are met by never compromising quality.
Must be hands-on at the job site daily by helping other team members.
Attend all construction meetings as required.
Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage workloads of individual projects in an effective and efficient manner while maintaining quality standards.
Work with the VP of Construction and HR Manager on hiring additional subcontractors and assign work accordingly.
Make changes in the operation when necessary to best meet construction deadlines.
Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient.
Perform other functions as may be assigned by the VP of Construction or management.
Communicate with clients as needed.
Other miscellaneous tasks as needed or as required.
Education & Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or another relevant discipline a bonus, but not required.
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
5+ years' experience
MUST be a team player.
Must be able to read blueprints.
In depth knowledge of residential renovations and additions
In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines
Advanced knowledge of plumbing, electric, HVAC, roofing and framing
Familiarity with construction management software and proficient in Microsoft Office
Strong leadership and negotiation skills
Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking, and active listening
Great planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation and contingencies
In-depth understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations
Great problem-solving and decision-making skills; must be proactive versus reactive.
Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal setting and conflict management.
Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and ultitasking.
Must be reliable and dependable, a self-starter, and detail-oriented.
Must conduct yourself with professionalism, courtesy and respect when interacting with clients, customers and other employees.
Meet performance and production criteria as established by company policy and the VP of Construction
Physical Requirements
This position will primarily work outside in all types of weather conditions and environments including but not limited to possible high, precarious places and is exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
Must be able to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds when needed.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls;
reach with hands and arms, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear.
