Discipline : Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
Dates : Approximately August 19, 2024, to June 4, 2025
Hours : Full-Time, Approximately 35-37.5 hours per week
Location : San Francisco, CA
Position Overview : We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team in San Francisco, CA, for the 2024-2025 school year.
As a TVI, you will work with students who have visual impairments to provide specialized instruction and support, helping them achieve their academic and developmental goals.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments, incorporating appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, including braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology
- Collaborate with educational teams, including paraprofessionals, therapists, and other support staff, to ensure the delivery of comprehensive services
- Conduct functional vision assessments and other evaluations to determine students' strengths, needs, and goals
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments
- Provide support and training to classroom teachers and other school personnel on strategies for working with students who are visually impaired
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and participate in IEP meetings and other team meetings as required

Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field
- Valid teaching credential or license with a specialization in Visual Impairments (TVI endorsement)
- Certification in Unified English Braille (UEB) preferred
- At least one year of recent experience working as a TVI in a school setting
- Knowledge of braille literacy, orientation and mobility techniques, and assistive technology for students with visual impairments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to meeting the unique needs of students with visual impairments and supporting their academic and developmental growth
