Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry position requiring Level 1 trauma experience and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
Position is located on a Neuro Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital with 32 bedsServes adult neurological and telemetry patients, including cases such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, and brain tumorsPatient ratio is typically 1 : 4Central monitoring is used for telemetry; EKG interpretation requiredMust be able to titrate drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, and heparinUses Cerner EMR; experience with Cerner and workstations on wheels (WOWs) is expectedShift is 12-hour nights, 7pm to 7amMust work 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks and 2 of 4 major holidaysFloating required to other telemetry units and telemetry overflow in ICUTwo-day floor-specific orientation providedExpected to perform Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes ensuring sterile techniqueCharge nurse present on the unit with a light patient assignment and nurse aides available for supportBedside shift reports and fast-paced, high turnover environmentMust pass a skills simulation lab on day oneSteel gray scrubs requiredClean-shaven policy for men due to fit testing; natural hair color and no facial piercings requiredAverage patient length of stay is 4-5 daysIV team (SWAT RN), RT, and pharmacy support available 24 / 7Holiday shifts rotate as part of the regular scheduleRole is not open to local candidates within 50 milesRequirements
Active RN license (state or compact) required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of experience as an RN, with Level 1 trauma experience requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust pass pre-employment dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique skills assessment (2 attempts allowed)Ability to interpret telemetry and EKG readings requiredMust provide a driver’s license for address verification; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facilityTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the last 3 yearsCannot have been employed full time, part time, or PRN by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past yearBenefits
