We are currently seeking candidates for a part-time Facilities Engineer position, located in Wallops Island, VA station.

Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island requires support for management, engineering, operation, and technical expertise for activation, operations, maintenance and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs in support of all Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) missions and projects performed at SCSC.

SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate, and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide facility engineering support to SCSC.
  • Design, review and comment on drawings and specifications, to include power distribution systems, cooling systems, alarm / monitors, and other built-in support equipment related to installation and operation of combat system equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Drafter to maintain utility distribution diagrams to include 400 Hz power, tactical 60 Hz power, Low Temperature Demineralized Water, High Temperature Demineralized Water, dry / compressed air, intercom, and the facility monitoring system.
  • Support facility planning efforts according to current Navy Shore Facility Planning System guidance.

Travel

This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the Engineering fields of Electrical, Mechanical or Structural engineering.
  • Three plus years of experience to include : construction, maintenance of facility equipment, utilities, power control systems, HVAC systems or general building construction and management.
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office products and possess administrative skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Virginia Professional Engineer or Registered Architect License is desired.

Qualifications

Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired, however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered.

If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he / she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations on base.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
  • Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs.
