Shift : Night Shifts; 7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM, Rapid Response, 3x12 Hr
Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week
Experience : Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
License : Illinois State RN License in good standing
Certifications :
- Required : Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
- Preferred : Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Provider Certification
Must-Have :
- ASN (Associate Degree in Nursing)
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
Job Description :
- Assume responsibility for a group of patients and provide care using nursing processes and updated technology.
- Perform responsibilities specific to the scope of service in the Oncology unit.
- Implement procedures and theories related to nursing practice.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care for health team integration.
- Conduct initial assessments upon patient admission and develop care plans based on needs.
- Implement, evaluate, and modify patient care plans and procedures.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by addressing and correcting safety hazards.
- Communicate effectively to resolve issues, provide feedback, and support peer development.
- Self-identify learning needs and seek appropriate solutions for professional growth.
- Meet departmental competency requirements.
Department Specific Job Functions :
- Conduct head-to-toe assessments, start IVs, insert NG tubes, perform dressing changes, administer medications, and insert Foley catheters.
- Access and maintain Mediports throughout the shift.
- Meet documentation standards validated by quarterly chart audits.
- Assist with bedside bone marrow aspirations.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families.
- Administer Chemotherapy / Biotherapy in various hospital settings.
- Administer outpatient treatments for Oncology patients when the cancer center is closed.
