Manager, Accounting
The pay range for this position is listed below. Our pay ranges are built to allow for candidates with various levels of skill and experience to be considered, as well as for room for growth and tenure achieved in a role over time.
Typical new hire salary offers fall within the minimum to midpoint of a pay range for many candidates. Any offer extended to a candidate will be based upon their unique set of knowledge, skills, education, and experience as well as internal equity.
Pay Range : $128,873.00 - $206,197.00
Scheduled Weekly Hours : 40
What You’ll Be Doing
- Responsible for planning, directing and overseeing the overall management of the credit union's Accounting department and maintaining the successful and accurate completion of all Accounting Department functions and duties that support financial statements that are fairly stated and in compliance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAP).
- Monitors department policies and procedures and recommends improvements, in consultation with the VP Controller, participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives, and serves as a resource in all aspects of accounting.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly general ledger close process and financial statement preparation.
Reviews and submits reports for executive and board meetings.
Leads the annual general ledger close process and preparation of annual financial statements and accompanying footnotes.
Ensures the accuracy of financial statements and other board reports.
Ensures the timely and accurate submission of regulatory reports, such as the NCUA 5300 call report and the Federal Reserve Bank 2900 report.
Oversees accounting methods that ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensures all accounting policies and procedures comply with NCUA regulation and GAAP, and reviews and interprets FASB rulings and guidance letters.
- Responsible for assisting the VP Controller in operating the Accounting department within regulatory standards that govern activities completed by department.
- Responsible for analyzing credit union data as it pertains to accounting, developing complex spreadsheets and reports. Ensures that accurate information is available on a timely basis.
- Identifies significant operational / financial variances, and determines reasons for variances. Interprets the meaning of accounting results and advises leadership.
- Identifies, develops and monitors procedures that ensure the credit union is in compliance with tax reporting government regulations.
- Oversees the preparation of and reviews required tax-related reports originating in accounting such as franchise, personal property, etc.

- Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department and increase efficiency while maintaining sufficient operational and financial controls.
- Ensure procedures are well documented and updated timely.
- Responsible for the design and adequacy of internal controls in the Accounting department.
- Review reconciliations prepared by accounting staff and other departments. Ensure process is conducted in accordance with GAAP / ASC requirements.
- Acts as liaison and resource for credit union business units seeking input on general ledger and financial reporting requirements as it relates to their projects or processes.
- Ensures that all daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting functions are completed accurately and timely.
- Areas of oversight include but are not limited to, financial reporting, disbursements, payroll and capital assets.
- Responsible for establishing and reviewing procedures that support the accuracy / legitimacy of information contained in the general ledger accounts.
- Oversees the timely and accurate accounting and financial statement production of CUSO’s and other financial statements for which accounting is responsible.
- Responds to telephone and written inquiries, researches problems, and provides information to requesting party(s) which include management and leadership of the credit union, and internal / external auditors and examiners from regulatory agencies.

Provides daily support to staff, including answering questions and problem resolution, communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results;
training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures and analyzing variances.
- Contributes to organizational goals and priorities as a member of Management team. Establishes and implements plans that have short-term (1-2 year) impact on business results in alignment with organization objectives.
- Evaluates operating procedures and policies, ensuring the highest levels of Member service, productivity and internal control.
- Initiates, researches, coordinates and implements department or division projects intended to benefit Members, internal team members or department operations.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal laws as well as any other applicable regulations.
- Understands the credit union organizational goals and key performance indicators and takes the necessary actions to achieve desired results.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5-7 years of previous related experience required.
- 2-4 years previous management experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
